Weekend at Minneapolis

April 18, 2009
We had bright sunny weather on weekend. Snowy winter has gone here in Chicago .So me and my husband went for Minneapolis which is about 334 miles away from Chicago. The 5 hours car drive was fantastic experience. My husband had to drive all alone as I didn’t have driving permit for USA. But nevertheless , I make one confession that I always like to sit in non driver seat while going with husband and enjoying the spectacular sights along the road .In addition to exceptional sight seeing ,I kept on giving live commentary to my husband(it precluded him from falling asleep). We stopped in between at gas station to fill the car tank as well as our stomach tank. Home made food always appears more attractive when we are not at home. There we had stuffed paratha, mango pickle and boiled egg.
At 6 O clocks in the evening we reached at Mall of America. The Mall of America, in the Minneapolis suburb of Bloomington is the largest shopping mall in the United States. It is built on three levels consisting of numerous shops, restaurants, movie theatre and amusement park. We had only three hours with us as Mall closes at 9 O clock. We had a nice time out there. We did lot of walking and looking around

The amusement park right at the center of the mall attracted us the most

We took the ride at roller coaster that traversed through entire mall and turned us sideways in a frightening way three times. It aroused our ebullience further more; we tempted to take another ride at Orange streak coaster , but it was
9 O clock then and the shops were closed by that
time . Only few game shops were open .We played hitting the target game, we took five
chances but none had striked the target. After that we played the video game.

Day long journey and walking around the mall left us exhausted. We were then felt need of having delicious food and nice sleep. Barring few cases one can always rely on Global positioning system as your travel guide in USA.We asked our guide to take us to a nearby restaurant. It took us to
Indian Pakistani Restaurant which was about a mile away from a mall. We ordered for a Goat Biryani, Chicken Curry and Naan. The foods
were tasty and spicy and in word : gooooooooood.
Having sated the appetite we left for LivINN Suites Burnsville, MN. It was 5.1 miles away from Mall Of America; we made a booking for a double bed room accomodation one night before through internet.

We stayed at Liv Inn Suitesl at night. This was a wonderful stay for us. Had a great time. Great staff, great rooms, great all around

Next day morning we managed to visit the Coulhon lake. But Lakeview was very enrapturing, and it's, uh, on the lake. There we had seen lot of joggers along the lake. Many of them probably don't live in Lakeview, but come to the lakefront to jog. It makes perfect sense for both of us to jog. Well, after jogged for about 45 minutes we could then justified our requirement for breakfast. We had a spicy noodle soup as a breakfast at Noodle Company near Coulhoun Lake. It was self-contained, so no dishes. I can say food was flavorful enough. We can think of visiting the restaurant second time for having soup. We left the place after having breakfast

So this is it for the April weekend .Next entry you’ll have to wait a little. Summer is advancing and we have many plans ahead.
Till then, I wish for you, all the happiness and peace in your life.

  1. Well written. The narration seems more vivid than the journey itself. Have fun.
